Solytare v2

If the Free Software was a hat, then this would be a small hat for the fashionably attired gnomes or similar.

The Murmatrons are proud in the extreme to be able to present to you the free software game Javas made by the special friend Mike.

This particular game Java has many more features to marvel at than the equivalent amount of Steve Gibson machine code but will not cost you a single hill of beans to purchase for it can be teleported to your telephone or whatever directly from the linkages craftily included on this Murmatron server page.

We shal also take the opportunity knocking here to apologise for the poor grammar & spelling in the followings of this page but it is sadly the case that the Murmatrons' friend is not used to typing up the server pages to the exacting lofty standards normally expected for inclusion.

Solytare v2

An updated version of the freeware Solytare J2ME game with newer higher resolution displays in mind. It was too small to play properly on my new phone, so I fixed it up a bit.

Features & changes from the original version

  • Updated graphics for bigger than 175x175px screens. This version is not suitable for 128x128px or similar screens - If you have an old phone or one with a small screen - go here instead.

  • Runs in full screen (even on Nokias)

  • Generic MIDP2.0 / CLDC1.1 - should work well on any newish phone that supports J2ME, but I'm not going to install every phone SDK & emulator under the sun to find out for sure. Time will tell.

  • Localisation (multiple user interface languages) support. Currently includes English & French.

  • Some other minor changes and bug fixes

Language

This version has support for English & French (I did the French translation myself, so it may not be 100% wonderful). Anyone interested in translating the language file into another language for inclusion (it would probably take you about 10 minutes) or correcting my errors, email me at solytare@armadillo.homeip.net.

Note: I have tried to contact the original author (Michael G. Pearce) to get permission to distribute this version, but didn't receive a reply. I've decided to distribute it anyway in the spirit of the original Freeware release. All the original attribution and contact details are intact, although I don't think he's accepting bug reports or feature requests now. I don't think I'll be distributing the source code for the new version without permission from the original author.
